FOOT WORK is crucial

This is an example of how to use good footwork to cover the court. This is exactly what Mrs. Ko demonstrated the other day. We are using this movement to do our warm-up as well. Keep this footwork in mind when doing your warm-up and practice it often so you will improve your skills.

  1. Is there any time where you would have to flat out sprint to get to the birdie and not use this technique?

  2. The Speed Lines are really effective in this sport. It seems that it helps because it uses your own force or something to deal with gravity to help you get to the shuttle. Also, it allows you good position to recover back to the center court. The footwork isnt that hard as it is just a shuffle step in either direction.

  4. This was really helpful. One of my biggest problems was footwork. The difference in footwork obviously makes a huge time difference. By applying the concepts in the video I believe that I can move more efficiently and nimble to the place on the court that I need to be at.

  5. I noticed how much of a difference footwork is in badminton. When I do the footwork correctly I was able to get to the birdie quicker and was still ready for the next hit. Footwork also helps to keep up a good rally.

  7. Speed lines seem very important especially the first step. I see why we do our footwork before class in order to keep our footwork maintained and start to use it as a habit. As you can see in this sport, footwork is important because how else are you supposed to get to the ball?

  8. I was surprised that a lot was mentioned about footwork in a sport like badminton. For me, it has seemed like hand eye coordination is the big issue, since I often miss the birdie. This video however has shown me that if you move quickly and set yourself up well to hit, then there is far less chance that you will miss.

  9. I was surprised to learn about the existence of speed lines and shuffle step. It seems that if you apply the proper technique, movement across the court during play in badminton can become quite easy.

  10. After watching the video I noticed just how crucial footwork really is. It can determine if you make it to the birdie or not. Also it allows you to move around the court in a very efficient way. If you don't have good footwork you severely ruin your chances of becoming a excellent player.

  11. This video taught me why footwork is so crucial because without knowing how to get around the court, you will be too slow to get to the shuttle. The speed lines are good to know so you can be at a good point to get to anywhere on the court.

  12. At first, I thought that good footwork in badminton wasn't all that necessary. However, after playing and watching the professional matches, I can see how bad footwork can make or break your chances of winning. The speed lines make moving around the court much easier and more efficient than simply sprinting everywhere.
