If you notice in this video, the player shoots both an overhand and underhand drop shot. The object is to have the shuttle just drop over the net into the opponents front court.
I quite enjoyed the narrator's accent. I see how the drop shot can be beneficial, if the opponent is caught off guard it'll be an easy point. It could also give a person time to get back to their center position while the opponent is scrambling or something, although an overhead clear might be better for that.
The drop shot seems to be a good skill to use when playing singles, since you can easily throw off your opponents balance and momentum. It can also really help when you're trying to catch a breather, since it will take a while to return the shot. -Beau
The drop shot appears to be a very useful shot for almost all occasions. It allows you to throw off your opponent so you can make that kill shot. It seems that it can also be used to help you recover by giving you time when your opponent is running over to the birdie. I can't wait to tune my drop shots during the next practice.
